Fix 'Your Device is Corrupt. It Can't Be Trusted & May Not Work Properly'
Fix "Your Device is Corrupt. It Can't Be Trusted & May Not Work Properly" – Android (Active Slot Trick)
If your Pixel/Motorola/Lenovo/Nokia or any other Android Phone shows this warning on boot:
"Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted & may not work properly"
...you likely have a mismatched or modified boot slot.
Good news — this can often be fixed just by switching the active slot back to the stock one!
Why This Happens
• You flashed Magisk, custom ROM, or patched boot only on one slot
• The other slot still has stock boot image
• Device boots from the modified slot → triggers warning
How to Fix It (By Changing Active Slot)
Step 1: Boot into Fastboot Mode
• Power off your phone
• Hold Volume Down + Power until Fastboot screen appears
• Connect to PC with USB cable
Step 2: Use fastboot to check current slot
Open CMD in your platform-tools folder and type:
Example output:
Please or to see this codeStep 3: Change to the other slot
If you're on slot a, switch to b:
Or if you're on b, switch to a:
Step 4: Reboot
Now your device will boot using the other slot, which may not be patched and will load the clean boot image (no warning).
Tip:
• If both slots show the corrupt warning, you may need to flash stock firmware on both boot_a and boot_b.
• Use this command to flash to both:
Final Notes
✔ This method works great if you only patched one slot (common with Magisk)
✔ You do NOT lose data when switching slots
✔ Fastboot slot switch is 100% safe and reversible (in some cases if you phone has any Memory Chip issues like in most cases with Google Pixel then risk will be all yours)
